As banks address the strategic threats and opportunities posed
by the Internet, DIBC has positioned itself to understand the
strategies of successful, pro-active banking competitors and
the best practice exemplified by these strategies. We initiated
our own annual survey of e-commerce strategies commencing late
1999. Client assignments have focused on issues such as innovative
on-line payment solutions and the selection of local banking
partners in Europe for established on-line providers and telcos.
Representative assignments:
- Evaluated possible product offerings and assisted in the
selection of banking partners for one of the winners of
third generation mobile telephony franchises in a number
of European countries
- Requested by a major Continental bank to carry out an
evaluation of possible alliances with non-banks such as
telcos and ISPs with particular reference to alternative
payments mechanisms
- Assisted an established pure Internet bank in identifying
and selecting possible distribution partners in Japan and
Europe
- Engaged by an on-line payments provider with a novel entry
strategy to identify possible banking partners across Europe.
In several markets we arranged such introductions and assisted
in the early negotiations
